Project title: An Efficient IoT-Based Smart Window: A Fresh Air, Light and Temperature Control System

Abstract—This project focuses on developing a smart window system that uses the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve the comfort and reduce health hazards of indoor spaces. The main goal is to design a window that can automatically adjust itself based on the light, temperature, and air quality inside and outside a room. Many houses and offices use a lot of energy to keep rooms comfortable. For example, lights are left turned on even when they are not needed, or air conditioning is used when merely fresh air inflow in the room via opening a window would be enough. This project aims to solve these issues by developing an automated and efficient window that can think for itself and adjust its states to save energy and improve indoor comfort.

The proposed smart window system uses several sensors to measure important factors like the amount of light and temperature inside the room and the quality of air outside. To accomplish this, the system employs a light sensor, a temperature sensor, and an air quality sensor, respectively.

The data from these sensors are processed by a microcontroller. The microcontroller then decides whether to open or close a vertical window to control room temperature and/or open vertical window blinds to ensure sufficient light intensity inside the room. For example, if the room is too dark, the system will open the blinds to let more light in. If the room is too warm and the air outside is clean, the vertical window will open to let fresh air in. If the air outside is dirty, the window will stay closed to keep the room safe, even if the room temperature is high. Overall, the proposed system delivers an efficient way to provide a comfortable and healthy indoor environment.
